As Christians globally commemorate Good Friday today, which is a solemn Christian period to reverence the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary, the Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), has called on Christians and the generality of Imota residents to love, forgive and show compassion to others.
In a statement commemorating the day, the council chairman also charged residents to always show concern for others and allow humility and service to humanity be their watchwords.
“As we mark Good Friday, a day of deep reflection and solemnity, I extend my heartfelt wishes of a blessed and peaceful observance to the good people of Imota Local Council Development Area.
“Today, we commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of love, forgiveness, and redemption made for humanity. It is a sacred moment that calls us to pause, reflect, and embrace the enduring values of compassion, humility, and empathy towards one another.
“This day reminds us of the immeasurable love of Jesus Christ, who gave His life on the cross for the salvation of mankind. His selflessness teaches us the importance of putting others before ourselves, serving with humility, and of striving to build a better and more caring society.”
The Imota council chair also urged residents to imbibe the lessons of the period not just for today alone, but in everyday dealings with others.
“As we reflect on the significance of this day, let us carry its lessons in our hearts, not just today, but always. Let us continue to foster unity, understanding, and love within our communities, while remaining mindful of our shared responsibility to care for one another and uphold the values that bind us together.
“May this solemn occasion bring us peace, renew our faith, and strengthen our hope for a brighter future. Let it inspire us to stand together in love and solidarity as we continue to build a more inclusive and prosperous Imota LCDA.
